The Journal of English Language Teaching and Learning (JELTL) is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal published semiannually by the University of Tabriz, Tabriz, Iran. All Iranians and foreign authors are kindly encouraged to submit their unpublished works which are not under review in any other journal. This journal publishes articles in different areas of Applied Linguistics, but preference is given to papers related to theoretical and practical issues in EFL/ESL teaching and learning. 

- Submission Guidelines

To submit the manuscripts, authors are requested to refer to the journal website: http://elt.tabrizu.ac.ir. Firstly, authors need to register according to the given instructions on the website. Once registered, the authors will receive an e-mail containing their passwords. Then, they can sign in and submit their manuscripts by following the given steps. If you have not registered yet, please click on: Register. - Title Page

The authors are invited to submit a Title Page based on the following format:

  1. Title of the article
  2. Authors' names in terms of their order. The authors' affiliations, academic e-mail addresses, and Orcid codes should be mentioned under each name.
  3. The corresponding author should be identified.

- Manuscript Preparation

The manuscript files must be submitted in MS Word with a length of 3000-7000 words. The abstract must be up to 200 words. 

The submitted manuscripts must follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), see below.

Authors are also required to submit two MS Word files. The first one includes the following: manuscript title, author name(s), affiliation, department, e-mail address, and phone number (office or cell phone). In the case of a multiple-authored manuscript, the order of the authors and also the corresponding author must be designated. The second file includes no cover page or author affiliation but contains English and Persian abstracts and keywords alongside the main body of the article.

Tables and figures must not be in image form, rather they should be drawn by hand.

Tables and figures must not be sent separately, rather they should be included within the main file.

- Writing Style Guidelines

  • Document size: A4 paper size

  • Top: 3.71 cm

  • Bottom: 5 cm

  • Left: 4.5

  • Right: 4.5

  • Gutter: 0

  • First line: 0.5

  • Font type and size: Times New Roman, 12 pt.

  • Line spacing: single or 1.15

  • Space before paragraph: 0 pt.

  • Space after paragraph: 6 pt.

  • First-line indentation of all paragraphs except the paragraphs immediately following a heading

  • Headings must be organized in the APA (7th edition) format.

  • Referencing style: both reference list and in-text citations must be in the APA style.

  • Tables and figures: Tables and figures must be inserted in the text, and also be in the APA format.

The editorial office requires that the authors add a similarity report on every submission using the iThenticate. By submitting your manuscript to this journal you accept that your manuscript has been screened for plagiarism against previously published works.

Required files to be uploaded: Five essential files must be submitted through the manuscript submission system: 1. The main file of the manuscript (without the names of the authors); the manuscript should be prepared based on the template. 2. Title page in the mentioned format, 3. Authorship form (must include the title of the article and the name and surname of all authors and be signed by all authors), 4. Conflicts of Interest form (must be signed by the Corresponding Author and uploaded with the article file), and 5. Cover letter.
